Fol-5 Tablet contains Folic Acid (Vitamin B9) at a 5 mg therapeutic dose considerably higher than the microgram-level folic acid found in standard prenatal multivitamins. Folic acid is essential for DNA synthesis and the production of healthy red blood cells. At this therapeutic strength, Fol-5 is mainly prescribed to treat diagnosed folate-deficiency (megaloblastic) anaemia and other conditions of confirmed folic acid deficiency, rather than as a routine daily multivitamin. It should be taken under medical guidance so the underlying cause of anaemia is correctly diagnosed first.

Key Ingredient – Folic Acid (Vitamin B9)

  • Treats diagnosed folate-deficiency (megaloblastic) anaemia
  • Corrects confirmed folic acid deficiency, including deficiency linked to chronic blood loss or malabsorption
  • Supports red blood cell production and healthy haemoglobin formation
  • Essential for DNA synthesis, cell growth and nerve function
  • May be used in pregnancy under medical supervision at a dose determined by your doctor
  • Take exactly as directed by your doctor dose and duration depend on the severity of deficiency, not a fixed OTC schedule.
  • Can be taken with or without food, with a full glass of water.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for the next dose do not double up.
  • When blood tests confirm folate-deficiency or megaloblastic anaemia
  • For chronic conditions causing ongoing folate loss, as identified and monitored by your doctor
  • In pregnancy only at the dose and schedule your doctor prescribes most healthy pregnancies use a much lower routine folic acid dose
  • Adults with doctor-confirmed folic acid deficiency or megaloblastic anaemia, and pregnant women specifically prescribed this strength
  • Anyone allergic to folic acid or other tablet ingredients
  • People with undiagnosed anaemia the underlying cause (including vitamin B12 deficiency) must be identified first, since folic acid alone will not correct B12-deficiency anaemia and can mask its symptoms
  • Anyone self-medicating at this therapeutic strength without a doctor’s diagnosis and prescription
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Have follow-up blood tests as advised by your doctor to confirm the anaemia is responding to treatment.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines/supplements you take, and about any vitamin B12 status, before starting.
  • Seek emergency care in case of a suspected overdose or severe allergic reaction.
